    Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine

The CX4 applies itself to any tactical arena. Sporting vertical rigid or folding grips for precise control sweeping a room or laying down supressive fire.  Up to 4 accessory rails for lights, lasers, optics or even camera/recording devices which can provide valuable intel on an incident. It accepts model 92, 96 and 8000 magazines with adapters. The stock is made of space-age lightweight technopolymers, which are extreemly strong, plus it's adjustable for length of pull. All that plus a snag free design means an efficient, easily maneuverable weapon for entry SWAT Teams and patrol cars. It also offers a barrel shroud, for the "look".

The CX4 is very accurate, easily grouping 3in at 100 yards in .45 with factory open sights. I witnessed this when I was zeroing my M40A1. Very impressive!

PB, gotta disagree on "tactical useage" on this unless you mean stickin it in a cruiser or something.

I dont wanna clear a house with non three shot burst weapon. And I need frangible high speed rnds.

I like the version in .223, but wish they woulda put a folding stock on it!!! grrrrr!  no .45, no folding stock! LOL..........

The one thing I do like about it in all versions is the "smoothness" of it, its looks to be very snag free....more important than one would think.

(see my article in defensetech.com about "snaggy assed thigh holsters" <hate 'em! ("draw cowboy!, I said draw!)

    Re: Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine

The OAL is short on these, which is perfect for a police cruizer, and SWAT Response Teams, very easy to move around with. The 3-shot round burst capability must be done by in house armorers, it's very doable on this weapon, and the frag ammo is a must for LEO's. The CX4 is insanely accurate, in .45 ACP capable of 3 inch or less groups at 100 yards, I witnessed this myself with factory iron sights.

The RX4 comes in .223, a collapsable stock should be coming soon from aftermarket sources. The RX4 in .45 will probably no come to be, due to the CX4 is avaliable in this caliber.

    Re: Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine

Yeah! Maybe they'll get the idea and do some type of stock besides the in/out. Not that its always

necessarily the best way to go, but on the mp5 types, the collapsable stock was excellent, you had your sling and could hold it out in front of you unshouldered, and slice the pie a bit easier. I did find this and thought it worth showing, sharing

Reminds me of the Col. Cooper / John Farnam "Scout Rifle" setup.........

    Re: Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine

    Gentlemen,

I'm a geezer, and look for ways to accomplish whatever situation I may encounter.  Often times, this means having weapons of common ammo and magazines.  In this case I have my Beretta M9A1s, with which Insight Technologies M6X laser/light combos ride, paired with my Beretta CX4s carrying Aimpoint Heat Seekers, TacStar T9 lights, Tritium front sighted ghost ring sights, Beamshot Greenbeam 2000s, and Aimpoint Micro T-1 sights.  Add to these, GripPods, speed slings, and the superb Eberlestock Gunslinger packs, and I'm good to go for light ops.  Why two of everything?  Car and home.  All of my 9mm magzines, from 15 to 32 rounds, fit both handguns, and both carbines.  Nearly forgot- for night work, optics are switched out to use ATN's Mk 440 Gen 2+ night sights...

I've seen the gentleman's comment about three shot burst mode.  Where I live, if I wanted, I could apply for, pay for, the stamp(s).  Likewise, if I wanted a can on any or all, I could also apply for, pay for, the stamp(s).  Tactically, I can even see where that might be necessary.  I just have an extreme visceral dislike for governmental paperwork...

The pairings I've described, are not my first line, but that which I'm more likely to grab for use in an urban environment, having to move short distances, with commensurate short distances for engaging an armed foe...  My Blackhawk Omega Elite Tactical Vests can each carry eighteen 32rd magazines.  Attached to their backs are Camelbacks capable of carrying 100 oz. of water each.  Pockets on the vest's fronts, can carry necessary batteries, tools, and lights for work in the field.

All of my shoulder weapons have sidearms dedicated to pairing with them.  The benefit of having complimentary platforms, is a boon...  I won't go into what calibers and stresses occur in combat, under harsh environments...  Suffice to say, with the proper ammunition, say Corbon's DPX ammo, the 9mm CX4 and any derivative of the 92 family, should be adequate to the task in short range down to CQB ranges...

To my way of thinking, Beretta makes the best pistols, and the best carbines,  for use by civilians.  I also believe that the M9 and M9A1 are the best semi-auto handguns in the military's world, thereby maintaining a clear qualitative edge over any other competitors...  Mine are always loaded with ammo designed to ruin a Bad Guy's day.  Corbon DPX, Pow'RBall, and 90gr. JHPs.

Thanks for starting your forums.  Knowledge is a great way leveling odds...

    Re: Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine

Hello and welcome sir. I to agree on having interchangable magazines between your sidearm and rifle, only makes sense. I to have a few Beretta's..(open class 92Compgun blaster, 90Two compgun (still building) plus an M40A1 I built up (not quite finished, but are they ever?).....lets just say I did "long range erasing" for the Corps.

Good to see you have you gear in order should the need arise..........I'm all for a good firefight every now and again, but I like the "you can run but you will just die tired" approach!!........

So welcome to BTAC, enjoy your time here..................

Why on Earth did Beretta  put such a crappy trigger on the Storm Carbine?
  •  07-19-2008, 22:33 549 in reply to 548

    Re: Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine

Long story short, Beretta did not want a tack driver, but a very reliable carbine to appeal to the LOE, home defense, patrol car carbine market. In poly framed guns its difficult to get a "comp grade" trigger feel as poly will flex. The CX4 is capable of some  insane accuray at 100 yds even in .45ACP, witnessed it myself. A good smith can smooth the trigger up nicely.................

    Re: Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine

The only down side to the CX4 is the trigger 58 pounds is a bit excessive. I took a file to my hammer and in about 5 minutes I fixed most of my problem I would estimate about 6 pounds of pull now way better than it was.

    Re: Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine

I have to agree, the CX4 trigger leaves a lot to be desired. But overcoming that the carbine is a very nice package............especially if you use a 92.................

    Re: Beretta CX4 Storm Carbine

CX4 Storm trigger is easy to fix just a bit of filing and your done 5 minutes is about all it takes.
